Taking My Body for Granted

This post follows on from Babies and Running.

What does disconnected from my body mean? I bathe, brush my teeth and floss. But beyond the basics that is where it ends.

I eat because my husband feeds me; I would subsist on Cheerios. I don’t drink enough water. I eat foods that trigger my rosacea and gut pain, if that is what is available.

Manicures and pedicures mean trimming my nails when they bother me. I always forget to deal with the cuticles. I could sit all day lost in my head space only getting up when my bladder screams at me.

I take my body for granted.
